Website Design for Michigan Small Businesses

SiteByPiece designs websites for Michigan business owners from its studio in Houston, Texas — working remotely, quoting from a published price list, and writing the plan down before building anything.

Two very different customers, one state

A lot of Michigan business falls into one of two buckets. Either you sell to companies — shops, suppliers, tooling, fleet services around Detroit and Grand Rapids — or you sell to people who are choosing where to spend a weekend.

Those need opposite websites. The first needs to read like a capabilities document that a purchasing manager can forward without embarrassment. The second needs photographs, hours, and a booking or directions link within reach of a thumb.

The intake asks which one you are early, because nearly every later decision follows from it.

How a Michigan project moves

  1. 01

    Choose a package

Prices and scope are published, so nothing depends on a sales call.

  2. 02

    Answer the intake

Guided questions about your services, your customers, and the photos you already have.

  3. 03

    Read the written plan

Page by page, with what is included and what is not, before build work starts.

  4. 04

Buy it outright or in pieces

Pay In Full for the lower price, or purchase the site piece by piece as cash allows.

Ann Arbor and Lansing are harder search markets

In and around Ann Arbor and Lansing, your competition tends to already have a decent site, so being merely present is not enough — the pages have to be specific about what you do and who you do it for.

In Flint and much of the surrounding area the bar is different: complete, current, mobile-friendly, and clearly reachable puts you ahead of most listings a customer will find.

Website needs Michigan owners bring up most

  • Service pages per trade instead of one long paragraph
  • A gallery that proves the work, not stock photography
  • Seasonal messaging that can be switched twice a year
  • Quote request forms that ask enough to be worth reading
  • Location pages for shops with more than one address
  • Simple product or deposit checkout where it genuinely applies

The packages page lists which of these belong to which package, in writing, with prices.

Michigan questions

Half my year is busy and half of it is dead. Can the site reflect that?
Yes, and it should. Seasonal businesses do better with a homepage built to change — a summer offer up front from May, a winter service up front from November — rather than one message that fits neither.
I sell to other companies, not to the public. Does that change the build?
It changes the whole structure. Supplier and shop sites lead with capabilities, tolerances, certifications, and a quote request instead of a friendly consumer pitch.
Can you take over a site somebody built for me years ago?
Usually the cleaner move is a rebuild that keeps your content and your address. The redesign page walks through how that decision gets made.
Do I have to be in Michigan-friendly hours to work with you?
No. Michigan and Houston are usually within an hour of each other anyway, and almost nothing in the process is live. You answer intake questions and approve work when it suits you.
Is Build As You Pay a payment plan run by a lender?
No. There is no lender and no credit involved. You are purchasing your website in pieces — each payment buys a defined portion of the work, which then gets built.
